Q:
I Don't Believe I'm Getting The Speed I'm Paying For, How
Can I Test It?
A: You can test the speed
from us to you by going to an FTP client, opening ftp.lonetree.com
and logging in as an anonymous user, changing to the pub
directory and downloading the picketfence file.
Or Download
this file that automates the login process. When the window
pops up choose the "Run this file form current location"
option. Then type the following commands:
- cd pub
- get picketfence
(This should take about 90 seconds.)
After the download
finishes, you should see this:

This is about
what normal user should get.
Notice the Last line of the prompt; ftp: 2952620 bytes received
in 87.22Seconds 33.85Kbytes/sec.
This line shows how big the file was in bytes (2.88MB), how many
seconds it took, and the speed at which the file transferred at.
Q:
What speed should I have transferred at?
A: Below is a table of what
what speed you have, and what you should have downloaded the picketfence
file at, give or take 8Kbytes/sec.
