Visits by Company or ISP

The Visits by Company or ISP report shows which organizations were responsible for the most visits during the specified report period.

An organization with an Internet presence may own one or more blocks of IP addresses; a visit from an IP address in one of these blocks is counted as a visit for the associated organization. When LiveStats comes across an unknown IP address, it attempts to resolve the net identity—that is, the organization's name—of the visitor by performing a reverse DNS lookup.

A net identity may be the name of a business, organization, government department, educational facility, or Internet Service Provider.

This report can help you build a profile of your customers. For example, if a more of your customers are from corporations rather than ISPs, you may conclude that your site appeals more to corporate users than home users. If, on the other hand, more visitors have ISP identities, then you may conclude that your site appeals to home users connecting to your site through a service provider.

Note: Network Identities are counted once per visit.
