The Page Views per Visit
report shows the average number of pages viewed by each visitor during
the specified report period.
The Page Views per Visit report helps you spot changes
in your Web site's traffic. For example, you can use a monthly or quarterly
report to test whether changes to your site are resulting in an increase
in the average number of pages a visitor views. An increase in the average
indicates that people are staying longer once they reach your site.
On the other hand, a decrease in page views per visit
may indicate a problem with the structure or content of your site. Improving
your most popular entry page may increase the number of pages your visitors
view.
Note: A page view is a successful
page request.
Note: A page is a filesuch
as a web page, dynamic web page, or formclassified
as a page by the LiveStats administrator. Page views usually
include requests for files with the following extensions: htm,
html, asp, shtm, htx and cfm.
Note: Page views do
not include requests for graphics or other supporting files embedded
in the page.
Note: Since a "refresh"
or "reload" results in a new page request, LiveStats counts it as another
page request.
Note: A "visit" refers
to one or more page requests from a unique IP address. A visit expires
after a set "time-out" period. After the visit "times out", any further
request by the same visitor is counted as a new visit.
